Biography

Johnathan Wilson is a very skilled receiver who is 8th All-Time in the Kansas program. ”John is a very talented receiver who runs precise routes, works hard over the middle, and does things the right way,” commented Atlas President Mark Magazu. ”John’s route to the NFL was made difficult by the NFL Lockout and the shortened training camp of 2011, but when he gets his opportunity he’s going to make the most of it. He’s a character kid who works hard. I’m very proud to represent him.”

2010 (Sr.): Named KU offensive player of the week vs. Kansas State… Ranked eighth on the KU career receptions list (119) and 15th on career receiving yards list (1,461)… Was second on the team in 2010 with 38 catches for 387 yards and two touchdowns… Started all 12 games at wide receiver… Opened the year with six catches for 25 yards against North Dakota State… Most receptions were eight for 62 against Kansas State… Best yardage game was five for 80 and one touchdown against Colorado… Touchdown grabs came at Southern Mississippi and vs. Colorado.

2009 (Jr.): Started 11 of 12 games on the season… Recorded 35 receptions for 449 yards to rank third on the team in both categories behind standouts Dezmon Briscoe and Kerry Meier… Caught at least two passes in each of the first 11 games before getting shutout in season finale against Missouri… Had six receptions at Colorado… Recorded at least 60 receiving yards in four different games, including a season-best 66 at UTEP… Had a season-long 47-yarder at Texas.

2008 (So.): Was the team’s third-leading wide receiver with 43 receptions for 573 yards and three touchdowns… Started 12 of 13 games on the year as he did not start against Missouri as the Jayhawks used a tight end on the first play of that game… Began the season catching 19 balls in the first three games, then caught just four in the next five games… Finished the year with 20 receptions in the final five games… Best game was 10 catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns at South Florida… Had 93 yards on eight receptions against Texas… Capped the season with two catches for 17 yards and a four-yard touchdown against Minnesota in the Insight Bowl.

2007 (Fr.): Played as a reserve wide receiver, as well as on special teams… Had three catches for 52 yards on the season… Had a five-yard reception vs. Toledo, an 11-yard catch at Texas A&M and a season-long 36-yarder vs. Iowa State.

High School: An all-state honorable mention wide receiver and all-district first team performer on the gridiron as a senior in 2006… Earned all-district first team honors as a junior… Averaged a touchdown for every three receptions… Had a memorable game against Klein Oak with three first half touchdowns… Was named Klein Forest’s offensive player of the year following his senior season… Helped the Eagles to the bi-district championship in 2006… Earned varsity letters in football and basketball… Was an all-district selection in basketball as well… Coached in football by Ken Hammock… A member of the all-academic team.
