On Saturday, April 24, the Washington Redskins drafted Terrence Austin to compete at the returner and receiver positions.
Terrence released the following statement upon being drafted: “It will be a huge personal honor to play for Coach Shanahan and his staff in our nation’s capital, and to have an opportunity to play with a man and a leader like Donovan McNabb. This is an incredible moment for me, and I appreciate the opportunity that Mr. Allen, Mr. Shanahan, Mr. Smith and Mr. McCardell have given me. I will do everything I can to make the team and I will do everything I can to make the Redskins fans proud.”
Terrence’s agent, Mark Magazu, released the following statement: “As he has in high school as one of the top rated receivers in the nation and in college as a record-setting athlete at UCLA, Terrence Austin is set to bring electricity and productivity to the Washington Redskins on special teams and as part of the offense. Terrence knows nothing will be handed to him, and he’s eager to get on the field and earn his spot on the team. Terrence will fit nicely into the community in DC, and we can all look forward to the leadership and thoughtfulness he can bring to both the locker room and to the community as a whole.”
Terrence is available for phone, email and television interviews between now and rookie camp, after which he will turn his focus to learning the Redskins system and earning a place on the roster.
